The majority of.lhe' sections fiompiisod in the above Schedules are eituated at Pahiatua in the Mangaone 'Block in the Kopuarangi District, about Dt oyer's Rock near Dreyerton, aiid front upon or are adjacent to the main' road connecting Masterton and Woodville. Branch roadß have been formed through the Hoc'iona at Dreyer'B. Rock, Central Mangaone-, Hawerß, and Pahiatua, at distances respectively from Masterton of about fourteen miles, tliirty-one miles.'thirty* five miles, and forty miles, ■• Tho Mangalino sections.aro within fourteen miles of the town of Woodville. The Main Trunk Railway from Wellington to Napier is now beitn; constructed io a point about seventeen.miles north of Masterton. Sites for railway stations have been selected at several points. The whole of the sections are covered with forest, the principal trees being tawa, rimu.hinau, rata, kahihatea. with totara, in places; the undergrowth is, as a rule, heavy ; the general character if the soil ts good, and in 6ome places is of first-class quality, the;formation' being limestone-, clay marl, sand stone, &c. The country is generally hilly and undulating, but there are large flits as well as broken ground wi'hin the area; it is well-watered, and, as the climate is also very favorable, thejand should, when cleared and brought into cultivation, prove well adapted for. pastoral sod, to some extent,..agricultural purposes. '• .The Kaiwhata Sections 1 to 5 consist of'high-hilly land, of fair and inferior quality, covered with light bush, mixed scrub, and manuka, with occasional small open patches, Section 1, Block IV., consists of good hilly land, partly cleared and grassed, the balance being covered by light bush, .'
