The majority of the sections comprised in the above Schedules are situated at Pahiatua in the Mangaone Block in the Kopuaranga District, about Dreyer'a Rook near Dreyerton, and front upon oc are adjacent to the main road connecting Masterton and Woodville. Branch roads have been formed through die Becuons at Dreyer'a Rock, Central Mangnone, Hawera, and Pahiatua, at distances respectively from Masterton of nbout fourteen miles, thirty-one miles, thirtyfive miles, and forty rnilps Tho Mangahao sections are within fourteen miles of the town of Woodville. The Main Trunk Railway from Wellington to Napier is now being constructed to a point about seventeen miles north of Masterton. Sites for railway stations have been selected at several points. The whole of the sections are covered with forest, the principal trees being tawa, limu, hinau, rata, kahihatoa. with totara, in places ; lho undergrowth is, as a rule, heavy; the general character of the soil ts good, and in some places is of first-class quality, the formation being limestone, clay marl, Baud stone, &c. The country is generally hilly and undulating, but there are large flits as well as broken ground wiihin the area; it is well-watered, and, us the climate » alan very favorable, the lend should, when cleared and brought into cultivation, prove well adapted for pastoral and, to some extent, agricultural purposes.

The Kniwhata Sections 1 to 5 consist of high hilly land, of fair and inferior quality, covered wi'li light bush, mixed scrub, and manuka, with occasional small open patches, Section 1, Block IV,, consists of good hilly land, partly cleared and grassed, the balance being covered bylisjht buah. ■_ The means of access are by a partlyformed bridle traok from Gladstone,: and from the coast by the Kaiwhata Valley. Maps, schedules, and application forms can be obtained at the Lmd Office, Wellington, and maps and schedules at the Post Offices, Featherston, Greytown, Mas'erton, Wonriville, Palinerston North.
