At the afternoon sitting Mr Wilson called attention to the decision in a cock-fighting case on the West Coast, and said that the police were well aware that it was to come off. With regard to the action of the R;M. he hoped he would be taught a severe lesson.

At the evening sitting the committee resumed on the Land Bill, which was reported with amendments and the third reading fixed for next sitting. The Consolidated Stock Bill second reading was carried on the voices and

passed through Committee without amendments. The Life Assurance Policies Bill was read a third time and passed, The Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill was read a third time and passed,. The Beetroot Sugar Bill was read a third time and passed. The New Zealand Loan Bill was read a third time- and passed. The Property Tax Bill was reported without amendments a,nd read a third time and passed. The Council roso at 11.5 p.m.
