In the Legislative Council the Napier Harbor Board was reported with Amendments, and tho third reading made an order of day for Tuesday. _ The Otago Harbor Board Bill, Pensions Bill, Foreign Companies and Timber Floating Bill, were read a third time and passed.

In the House, In replying to questions the Government said half pay for the first three months and quarter pay for the next 3 was paid to persons injured in the Government service, The Mayor of Ashburton had bean asked to suggest a means of temporary relief for the destitution reported there. There was no intention ot altering the law so as to include the property belonging to religious denomination liable to taxation.

The Treasurer brought forward his motion to the effect that letter rates by Brindisi be increased to one shilling the half ounce, and other matter in proportion.
