In the House Mr Guinness gave notice to introduce a Bill to abolish Coroner's juries, Mr Pyke gave notice to ask the Government why a special press rate was made on telegrams on the night of the general election, Mr Newman gave notice to ask if the Government will call for tenders for the manufacture of locomotives,
Replying to questions the Government said the inviting of tenders for railway stores in separate districts would be considered. Endowments of hospitals and charitable aid would be considered. The Government would not interfere further with the extension of the appointment of Sir 1. D, Bell as Agent-General. The following Bills were introduced: —To amend the Corporations Act, to amend the South Island Native Reserves Act, Westporfc Harbor Act, and Greymouth Harbor Act, a Bill to enable people in New Zealand to alter the constitution. Sir Julius Yogkl announced that the Hinemoa would leave for Kawhia that night, taking Members. • He also announced that 1 in consequence of representations of a strong feeling in the country on tho matter, the Government had concluded to forego the reduction of capitation for education and leave the grant the same as at present. Mr Tuknbull objected to this, and Messrs Moss and Shepherd supported, it.

The following Bills were passed : Tiumiu Market Reserves, Invercargill Reserves, Leasing Wellington Harbor Boaul, Loans Consolidation, and Empowering, Otago Harbor Board Loan Consolidation, At the evening sitting the Adulteration Prevention Extension Bill, Eight Hours' Bill, and Seamens' Representation Bill, were read a second time, The House rose at 1 a.m.
