Several members uf Ihe Maslortou contingent of the Salvation Army, procoeded to Carterton on horseback on Sunday afternuun, Captain Francis being in coniH maud. There are now in the Masterton Hospital six cases, Two of them are fractured legs, another two ulcerated legs, the fifth lumbago, and the sixth fever. The friends of Mr George Young are invited to attend the iuneral of his late wife, which will leave lub residence, Cole-* street, to-morrow afternoon at 8 p.m. A meeting of settlers convened by Mr Von Eodin was held at the Eketahuna school room on Saturday evening and attended by about thirty residents. The object of the gathering was the question of railway extension. Mr' Yon, Redin, who occupied the chair, explained that unless every effort was made by settlers it was doubtful whether an extension from Kopuaranga to Eketahuna would be obtained, It was unanimously resolved to petition the Government in favor of the immediate construction of the section to Ekeoahuna.
