:. Intelligence has been received of the battle recently fought at Arabukol near Dongola between the Egyptian troops under the Mudir and a large body of rebels led by two of Mahdi's chief Ameers. The engagement lasted some time and resulted in the defeat of the rebels, who were utterly routed, and suffered a severe loss in killed and wounded. The Highland Brigade now stationed' in this city has received orders to proceed to various points on the Nile to reinforce garrisons. General Lord Wolseley is remaining here for the present, directing the movements of the troops.
