Yesterday the quarantine station at Ripa Island, Lyttelton, was inspected with a view to occupation in the event of small-pox cases occurring, and the master and matron were vaccinated. The New Zealand Shipping Co. are in receipt of a cablegram dated London, August 11, stating that the British Queen had arrived at Rio with all well. Her refrigerator had worked satisfacfactorily, and the meat was in prime condition, New Plymouth, Wednesday, An inquest was held yesterday afternoon on tho fire that took place in St. Aubyns street in January, 1883. Mr Pardy said the reason he had an inquest on this fire so long after it bad occurred was owing to a house by same owner being burned at Henui. Mr and Mrs Cbarnock were examined. Before adjourning Pardy asked for a warrant to be issued to arrest Charnock and his wife. He said that during the proceedings of the inquest the police had searched Oharnock's house where they found a large quantity of goods which Charnock stated were burned.
