NAUTICAL EVIDENCE.

At tho Greenock Police Court ono day, a young woman was charged with having been disorderly at Longwell Close She pleaded not guilty. Forgus Rodney, a sailor, was called for tlio defence. The •Fiscal (to witness): "Do you belong to tho Narcissus?" Witness: "No, sir; I belong to the Northampton, sir." Tho Fiscal: " Then toll us what you know of the case." Witness: " Well, sir, I landed at Prince's Pier last night. I took her in tow, and we lacked about a little, and then steered for Longwell Close, There we fell in with another fresh frigate (laughter) with barnacles on, (loud laughter), and we got into collision with her (laughter). She struck my frigate right across tho bows (roars of laughter). My frigate said it was a shame to do tho like. I was on the look-out, sir, at the time my frigate was struck'across the bows (laughter), and I sees two prates (policeman) coming along (loud laughter). They came alongside" (laughter). The Assessor : " Well, and what did they do V Witness: " Well, sir, they brought my frigate to anchor (roars of laughter). I hare told the truth, and nothing but the truth. I never was in Greenock before, sir." Witness was then allowed to leave the box, After hearing the evidence of the " frigate with barnacles on," accused was dismissed from the bar.
