| UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Tuesday. The body of Ophilia Simpson, a housekeeper, was found in a pond at the North-East Valley with her throat cut in three places. Her two brothers had previously suicided. A twelve-roomed house at St. Clair, occupied by Captain Baldwin, was burned clown early this morning. The insurance is unknown.
Dunedin, July 22. One day last week a rahbiter on Smith's run at Greenfield was savagely attacked by his pack of dogs.- One of the dogs started the attack, but he succeeded in keeping the animal off. He was soon joined by the whole pack, Ho succeeded in getting his back to a fence, and in that position defended himself as well as he could, and had killed four of the dogs with his knife when assistance arrived, and he was rescued, The man can only attribute the attack to the fact that he was carrying sheepskins the previous day, and the scent may have attracted the brutes,
