[by electuc telegraph—copyright.] Heoter's Telegrams. London, July 16, The Times to-day announces that China has rejected the demand of France for an idemnity on account of the Langson affair, and that war between the two countries is believed to be inevitable,
London, July 15.
Consols remain at 100|. The market rate of discount has risen by | and ig now | below the bank rate. New Zealand securities:—s per cent 10;40 loan, 104, a decline of ss: 5 per cent,'lßß9 loan, 103|j 4| per cent. 1879-1904 loan loan, 101J; 4 per centinscribed stock, 100 j. Colonial breadstuff and tallow are unchanged. Paris, July 16. No information of the rejection by the Chinese Government of tho French demand for an indemnity on account of the Langson affair has yet been published here, and the report to the contrary effect in the London Times of to-day is positively stated to be without foundation.
Cholera cotinues to rage at Marseilles and Toulon with unabated vigor. Other parts of France arc as yet free from the epidemic. Capetown, July 16.
In the House of Assembly to day, Mr TJppington, Premier, gave notice of a motion in favor of the annexation ofStclland(sic? Zululand). London, July 17.
A disastrous accident lias occurred on the Manchester, Sheffield, and Lincolnshire Kail way. - The axle of one of the carriages of an express train lmning from. Manchester to Sheffield broke, and the train left the rails and fell over an embankment. Twenty persons were killed and thirty others sustained severe injuries! Sydney, July 17. Received July 18,12.52 p.m.—Further cases of doubtful sickness which is now prevalent have occurred at Hotham and Mount Gambier. Patients have been isolated, Judge Molesworth has made an order to stay the winding up of local affairs of the Oriental Bank.
