CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor,) Sir, —In your leading article of the 15th inst. you advocate cheap land-as against deferred payment land, This amouuts to an admission that the deferred payment land is too high priced, and with that I quite agree, but venture to argue that the remedv proposed-that of land being sold at half the money for cash—is not the proper remedy, Why should not land he sold at the same rate on deferred payment as it is for cash ? By all means sell it at £1 per acre, but give everyone an opportunity of getting some and therefore let it be optional to pay cash or tako it on deferred payment. The addition of alow rate of interest—five or six per cont-woiild pay the Government and give the deferred payment system men a show. It septus to me that tiie desire ol all New Zealand Governments is revenue. Settlement is not encouraged, the idea is, got all that can be squeezed out of the people. I am, &c,. Observer.
