TENUI.
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT ) On Saturday last a number of influential settlers met in tho Town Hall, and a strong committee was formed to assist in securing Mr G. Bootham's return as our representative. The opposition candidate need not be amazed if the attendance at his meeting called for the 12th is somewhat thin, for the hour of 8_ p.m, is a most unsuitable one in a district whero roads at this time of the year are little less then bogs, The Rev. J, 0. Andrew held service in the Hall on Sunday, a large and appreciative congregation, being present. The work of rabbit poisoning is now being carried on vigorously on all the properties in this neighborhood, and I am glad to say with good results, The inspo:tors seem indefatigable in their efforts to combat both the rabbit and soab pest, and notwithstanding tbe statement made by a fo»v persons sufferitic; from an appearance before the R.M., many people are of opinion that the scab will be a thing of the past e'er another six months is over,
