MR McCARDLE'S BRAINS.

To the Editor. Sib,—Will you permit me to say a few words aboui Mr McOardle's brains, I would not allude to the furniture of his oraniura any mora thau I would to the consoats of his capacious corporation, had lie not himself in modest and manly terms drawn attention to them at his Kuripuni meeting. None of us were aware till he kindly informed us the other day, that he possessed any ray remarkable brain power. Of course Mr McCardle would not say he bad " brains" if he had'nt something extraordinary, say Ko, tens or No. elevens, (or short seventeens.) What I want to know is whether they have grown up suddenly since the election started or whether he has had them all along. Will he kindly tell us at his next meeting. If he's had them all along, why has'nt he dono something great for us in Masterton ? Why has he kept them to himself ? Has it been modesty or indolence that has mado him so backward in bringing them forward ? What opportunities have we not lost through his bashfiiluess ? If we had only known that he had them, we would have made him Mayor long ago and had gas, water, and drainage in tlie town, Fancy keeping a man with brains fit for the General Assembly as a common Councillor for seven years. Perhaps, however, the present election contest has fetched them up like mushrooms in a single night, If this is so, is there any danger, Mr Editor of- their drying up after the election is over. Can this tremendous brain power be maintained, or will it run down like an eight day eloek. lam, &c,, AnElectob.
