The Wairarapa Daily. TUESDAY, JULY 8, 1884. MR HAWKINS' MEETING.

We have to thank Mr R. S. Hawkins, the President of tlie Wairarapa Settlers' Association, for convening a public meeting to-morrow evening to discuss" measures not men" At a time when red herrings are being dragged across the scent it is expedient that someone should call attention to the larger issues which should at such a period occupy the minds of thoughtful electors, and no one is in a better position to do this than Mr Hawkins. He is not a candidate—he is not the partisan of any particular candidate—and he possesses the ability to place fairly before the electors the more important questions on which the future of New Zealand depends.
