In another column we publish a summary of Sir Julius Yoqel's speech to the Ashburton electors. It is refreshing after all the bathos we have had bitterly from political' wise-acres, to get a little of Vooel's vigorous common sense. He speaks plainly ! when asked about the nationalisation of land, he replied that it was one of the biggest humbugs ever introduced into a colony with millions of acres to sell. Nowthiß is exactly whatmen think, but are afraid to say, lest they should tread on the toes of a few foolish enthusiasts who aro claiming to be the people of the .colony. "Voqel will make sad havoc among these gentry. We by no means agree with all theviews lie lias expressed, but at the. present time he is a. safer guide than any other political leader at the disposal of the colony.
