The Wairarapa Daily. MONDAY, JUNE 16, 1884. THE DISSOLUTION.

The Ministerial party has decided to ask the Governor for ut dissolution, and we helieve that this decision will generally be approved. It is rumored that Major Atkinson and Mr Bryce were favorable to an immediate resignation, but as this mighthaveinvolved the formation o( a Grey Ministry we may be thankful that the colony has been spared such an infliction. Probably the Governor will grant the Ministry a dissolution, and in a fortnight or threo weeks time when indispensable public business has been despatched Parliament will be dissolved and writs issued for a general election. The latter may bo expected to come off during the month of August, and the new Parliament will be able to meet by tho beginning of September. In the interim the affairs of tho colony will, without doubt, be honestly administered by the Atkinson Ministry, Major Atkinson does not occupy a dignified pos'tion in continuing in office as a warming pan till his successor is appointed, but he may console himself with the thought that his opponents, Sir George Grey and Mr Montgomery, have played but a poor part and appeared as very sorry figures in the present campaign. In the attack which was successfully made on the Government both of these bold leaders wero put in the background and only came to the front to crow when the battle was won.
