MASTERTON ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above was held on Saturday. Present —Messrs Beetlmm (Chairman) - t Meredith", Dagg, and Macquarrie.

: Resolved,—ThatMrTathaur.be requested to renew his application for reerection'of bridge at the first meeting of the Board in Oetober next, \ That those interested in the construction of Uriti road be informed that a further sum of £9O will require to be applied for under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act.

The following tenders were received for the above-named bridge:-John Eeese £U; A. McLeod £79 ss. Reese's tender was-accepted. ■ From Mr R. Rasmussen re bis road, which is unfit for traffic, asking for it to be laid 08 and formed, Mr Gorriuge attended re his road on the Fernridge requiring a ; culvert, but said the Engineer knew the road. It was resolved to inquire of the Engineer and consider the matter.

The Engineer was instructed to make arrangements with Mr Hercock to use the road near the Waipawa bridge not at present in use, for the purpose of carting wood.

Mr Stewart applied, for a road through- Mr James Harvey's private property, about 4 chains 70 links on the Opaki. ,- '

Mr Donovan attended re the grade ,on his road, but the Board said there was ah absence of funds, and money had been. expended freely in that district lately. Air Donovan said there was only about one chain, and the. first flood that came would make it entirely impassable. The Board said they were in debt'already, and did not think that any moro money conld be spared 611 his road yet. Mr Donovan: Has the Board possession of my road-to the main road ] The _ Chairman: The Board have possession of the road, but are not in a position to expend any more money j on it yet.

. The Engineer's report was then read and adopted, . Resolved, that that the £4OO due from the County to the Board be applied for. Resolved, that, the Engineer be instructed to improve the road on the Pirau swamp, and use his own discretion as to the price. .Resolved, that a special meetin&be held «t, next ordinary meeting of the' Board to discuss the allocation of rates between Native and Crown lands.
