A meeting of the Bnarl was held on Saturday the 31st ult.' Present Messrs Mackay, Meredith Telford, and Relliss,
The Clerk read a lei lei" from the Colonial Secretary, statin" that'Mr R. R. Meredith had been gazetted a member for tho Cißtlepoiiit R')ad Bmrd, No. 1 Subdivision.
If was also intimated that before proceeding to business it would he necessary to elect a Chairman for the ensuing yetr, when Mr Mackay waS' unanimously re-elected to thnt office. The minutes nf tho previous meeting wero red and confirmed. The Treasurer renoyed a balance in (lie Bmk of .£260 16s, and an available tftlance of i' 323
The Overseer's report was then read and considered the wages bills and other accounts passed for payment. Correspondence whs read from the Masterhm Road Board re grant of £7O; from Mr Groves, jun„ re repiira to road at Adams' Peak; from Messrs Leach Bros, re grant of £lO to repair the ro)d leading to the r properties; from the Surveyor Uenml i-uwly to au applica lion for a grant towa-ds- jadiing a road to tho land recently snld tit the vicinity of the MuopapalieiM, ami stating that no funds wero available for iliat purpose; from Mr J. E Meroili'h relative to the lease of part section 014; from Messrs J. Nathau & Co >g co open a portion ot Andrew-street; from County Clerk re nppoin<inu a member of the Boad for No, 7 Sab-division, and statim; that the amendments to the Itn'id Boards Act provided iliat ilia member should be elected in the ordinary way; from Mr W. Liverton asking to be refunded for work done nn the Pakowai road; from Mr R. Donuld with acciunt for timber; from Mr J. W. S'liitb re Waiiawiti properly.
It was resolved that a turn of J-15 be Etniiitod towards opening drama and making repairs on the-Unti roads on Langdale flata. Tlwt the sum of £ll be granted to recoup Mr Raine for work done on the roadfrom Mauawa to Anniedale. That tlie County Engineer be requested to diroct the men on the Gnsilopoint road to attend to the metal recently completed. That the balance of the grant for metalling bo expended on the road from tho first Bridge from the junction towards the Black Birch point, tho inefcil to bo taken from Ilia nearest quarry, 'flint the sum nf bo given for maintenance to the Blairlogio road be paid, and that the Mast ei ton board be informed that this board will not recognise any liability for nnintenunco until after the 13th of July. That a Bum of l's bo expended on the road from the Mungipakeha main roid to the Immes'ead of Mr Groves. Messrs Leaches' application was allowed to stand over until next meeting, and also Mr Livorton's. A sum of jl lOi was granted for repairs to Tinui bridge at Mr Wells,- proviced that the settlers interested aukoribed 12 towards 'the repairs, That applications be sent in under the Boads and Bridges Construction Act for work on the Uri'i line 11277 os.7d, and on the Tinui valley Road £'47o, 17s 2d. That this Board at i s next meeting on the 28th. June intend (o make a general ratoof one half penny in tho £ |on all rateable prnporty in this district fur the carront year, .The clerk was directed to apply for amount due by the County for maintenance of the main lines of road-.
