Lewis NixVW.'Cpe.. Complainant oharged defendant with having used obscene and abusive language to him on a public road. The language complained of was very bad indeed. The defendant ;iri his defence I said he was prepared,to jwpr solemnly that the only part of the language complained' of which was true, was that in which he said defendant told him he would give him a shilling if be wanted one. There was no corroborating evidence, The Court said if the use of the language complained of had been satisfactorily proved, it would inflict a severe punishment. It did not feel, however, that the evidence was sufficient to warrant a conviction, and the case wouldbe dismissed. » C A, Baker v C. E. Gawler.Board 115. Judgment for £7 and costs. '
John Bowman v John Burrow.— Wages, £l los. Judgment for plaintiff for £b '9s iti, and;costs. UREYTOWN-TUESDAY. (Before F. H. Wood, J.P., and H. T. Spratc, J.P,) ;■ William:T, Price v Nga'tuere Taw hao.—Defendant was charged with having, on the 14th of Miy last, cut the wires of a fence erected for Mr Buchanan on Te Aliikouka, South Block. Mr Gray' for Informant, Mr Parker for defendant.
Evidence was taken proving that the fence was ■ cut by defendant, who pleaded that he merely cue tho wires of the fence for the purpose of getting through to a piece of land which he claimed to be his.- The Bench ruled that their. : was no malicious intention on the part of tho defendant) and dismissed the case, Thomas Wiggins v John Kaowles. .Debt £2 10s lor breaking in a horse. Judgment for plaintiff for amount and costs.
