One of the, most 1 remarkable and tragic incidents of the cyclone which passed over the country near Dayton, O.j recently, occurred near the end of its destructive career at a point near Xenia. Captain William Godfather, ex-sheriff of 'Greene County.while driving through the country near Xienia,; shower, s and ( took shelter, in a covered bridga.'. Whiijfhe was in the'structure ihe v cyclone "came' howling along, and picking the .bridge off its foundations, carried it through the air a distance of 300 yards,(and. dropping-it -permitted it to fall a mass of broWtimbtirs into theJfuriouajwaters;: of-tho swollen stream, :'■ Captain .Godfather's horse ■was instantly killed, and Ms vehicle •broken to splinters,, : A'-party/of farm hands who witnessed the flight of tho bridge worked for lialf-an-hour among the ; timbers and'; m the' water 'before the unfortunate captain could be found.
