PAHIATUA ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the above board took .place on Satuaday, when all the members were present, Mr MoCardle stated what had been done in arranging financial matters between this board the Masterton Eoad Board, and the East County Council, the result being that, the .County, Council coolly, referred him to the Masterton Board ,for a settlement, .as they (the County) had paid the Maatevtoa Board £400: iV satisfaction of allelaims, The County staff were courteous enough to supply Mr MeOardle with an estimate of the acreage in the various siirrey,.diatrict3' comprising, -this Road Board/ and from which it. appears that the Castlepoint Board .has .been 'collecting rates from' Crown lands that belong to this district; but as the information on that, head is rather meagre, the Chairman , is to interview the Chairman of the Castlepoint Board' in- referenda' thereto before any. thing, can be done'in the .matteiv. Letter,, were read from Messrs Whitcombe Bros,, applying to be placed on the roll; also from. Mr Banuke, asking for a tnok to be formed to his section.
Several bills were also read,: but as thero.'was at present no funds, it. was decided that' they Btaud over till next meeting, when a finance committee, will ; The Clerk' Was instructed to appiy to the Government for rates " due on native 'lands. .'"'lt WW; resolved to.appoint the.Woodville Examiner as the official gazette to tbo Boatd. .'. Moved by the Chairman—That steps be at once taken to get all the necessary plans and specifications required under -the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, with a view to. oarrying out.the Mowing works : Metalling four miles thirteen ohains Tiraumeaßoad; forming rough road to Bank's; metalling Mauugaraivarama Road about four miles; forming rough track to the Makuri and along the Tirautnea ■River, bo as to open up back Beotions. about ten miles; and also a piece of road ' about a mile and a half in the direction of the Mangatinoka; and that Messrs Davie, Averv, and the mover be a com j. miltee to carry out the above,—Carried JR The committee to meet at 10 a.m. on* Mondjiy next. '■' Eesblvod—That the oleotioij take olaco on the 7th : May; and the annual meeting be held,-pn the same date at the hour of noon. . Mr Crewe brought up the matter of the Clerk's salary, which was leit over for the finanoe committee to doal with. The Board then adjourned.
