The Wairarapa-Adelaide inquiry was continued to-day. Witnesses who were on board the Union steamship confirmed the evidence, taken at Dtmedin, Mr Mouatfc, the engineer, corroborated the statement that tho remark made by Mr Mills regarding a race was 'merely jacular. Other witnesses denied that the Wairarapa waited for the Adelaide, and blamed the bad steering of the. latter vessel. Mi' Mills, tlie.Union Company's agent, testified that lie never arranged a race between the tjvo vessels, and that the statement of Hr Turnbull, the Adelaide's agent, the contrary, was incorrect.
