THE NEW PASSENGER RATES.

Our contemporary the Standard has been writiug in the following terms on the new passenger rates on our local railway:— " In all the railway lines in other parts of the colony (save the' 10 mile radius outside the. large cities;' with respdet to which no increase of fares has been made,) passengers are charger 10 per cent higher fares than by tariff of 1883. .But on the Wairarapa line the increase, as already noted, is nearly 20 per cent, or about double, what is imposed anywhere else," Possibly our contemporary did not take tho trouble to ascertain what the new rates really were. We have obtained from the Mastertpn station master particulars of the new charges which have now, cpme in. forco,.and compiled from.them the following table: Mnstertoii to Cart. Orcjt. Fcatli.
