Time-4min. Doncaster got away at the start, and made the running, with Morpeth sixth, and Off Color near, until tho finish, when Morpeth went to the front, and took the lead without difficulty. WANGANUI RACES. Wanqandi, Thursday. Tho Cup was the finest race ever seen on tho course, and high ecomiums were given to MrEvelt, the handioapper. The following are the results of tho racing :- WiHMci Derby, ICO soys. Mr Tancred's Consul, Bst 101b Clifford 1 Mr Rodwood's Refrigerator, Sat 101b Wattie 2 Mr D. Scott's Ahuu, Bst lQlb Scott 3 Musketeer, Wairuarekaj'and Artist also ran, Lady Artist and Martha' being scratched, This was a capital racb, being the fastest Derby ever run on the course by three seconds. Consul and Refri"erv lor went away In the front at tho fall of the flag, and were never headed, the two going away from iho others, who were outpaced from tho outset. They came up the straight neck and neck, Consul winning after a splendid finish by a neck. Ahau and Wairuareka were four lengths away, Musketeer being last. Time, 2mm 44Jaecs. Dividend, inside, £3 12s; outside £3 18s. Hurdle Race, 75 sovs; 2i niilca MrW. Douglass' Loch Lomond ... 1 MrMcColl's Orient 2 Mr J. Stevens'Diomedes ... ~, 3 Mount, Chandler, and Skylark also ran. It was a good race betwen (ho first throe horses. Loch Lomond and Orient had a good race up the straight, ihe former winning by a couplcof lengths, Diomedes being throe lengths away. The Laird, Buzzird, and Wairuaroka were scratched. It was a grand race. The horses went away nui pretty start, Administrator, Libeller, Blue Gown, and Refrigerator leading slightly, Tim Whiffler lying last, Bayard next, and the rest in a cluster. This order was maintained for the first time round, Refrigerator and Administrator leading by a couple of lengths. After passim; the stand for the second time, Tim Wliiftler began to go up, and Bayard also made his effort, but they died away before the turn for homo was reached, and the two relapsed into the last place' again, The horses, meanwhile, all closed on the loaders, and a splendid finish resulted, the wholo coming up the straight closo together, and it ivas impossible to select the winner. Administrate, Normanby, and Poet nmdo a desperate struggle, with the result that Derrir.t just pulled Post out by half a length ahead of Atlininiski tor, who ran a great horse, the latter beiim a similar distance ahead o( N..rmanby, and Maori fourth, dose up, Refrigerator next, then Libeller, with Alma and Blue Gown close on his quarter; Tim Whiffler was next, Bayard last. Consul and Hinemoa proved too fast for iho rest of the hoißea, and ran a grand finish, being two lengths ahead uf auy of the others, Hinemoa won by a noso, the opinion being expressed that it was a dead heat.
