MR WICKENDEN IN REPLY.

(to the editor).

Si'l;,—As ii correspondent signing himself "Exhibitor" aitam'p s in your valuable paper of yesterday t> point out the mismanagements of our very successful Horticultural Society, and in so doing can evidently find fault with no one hut me, perhaps it would ho as woll to set matters a bit straight r.s far as I am concerned, la tho_ fii-fet place had ho been nt the Theatre at 7-30 that morning iw would have found me there, but on account of the late disastrous fire, the brake I had engaged waß not obtainable, hence tho delay in getting my exhibits to the showroom, which place I may mention I' reached at 9.Z3 and not 9.45 as Btated. It would have been nioro generous on "Exhibitor's" part if he had ascertained whether I had any roses for the show, before condemning me in the -Tay ha has done by making euch n false statement, for I had not a rose to exhibit at the Autumn Show, and if " Exhibitor" thinks I have not a soul above admiring the beautiful without any mean intentions ho must be as mean as he attempts to make me out, As to my entries not being made the praviouß night .1 had been employed several miles from home, and did not return before 8.30 that evening, I then had the whole of my exhibits to prepare for the show, and I may state for "Exhibitor's" information that "everything" I brought from home was" entered" for competition and staged before ten o'clock' I trust, sir, that "Exhibitor" will 6ee his way to become a member and a committeeman (by his style of writing I presume he ia not one or tho other) of our Society, and that ho will exert himself for its advancement as much as I have done. I am, &c, ■ ••;; S. WIOKENDEK.
