JOINT COUNTY MEETING.

A joint meeting of-the Wairarapa East and West, Counties . was, held,at Carterton on Saturday last, The West County was represented by Ora Booth, Phillips, Bnnny, Barton, Braithwaite,. Mathews, Russell, and Buchanan, and the East by Crs. McGregor and Beetham. 1

On the motion of fir Matl;ews, Cr Booth was voted to the chair, and explained that the-joint meeting" Was held for the election of a member to' represent the Wairarapa in the Wellington Harbor Board. , V : Cr Bunny: I suppose our business is to at ouco elect a member of the; Harbor Board. The Chairman; The minutes of the' last joint meeting must first be read. The minijtes having been'read and confirmed Cr Bininy thought the. time had arrived when they should elect a member from among themselves. He thought that. Wairarapa i interests would be more closely looked after if one of their own members sat on.the Board, He moved that Mr : Booth be appointed to represent the Wairarapa at the Harbor Board for the ensuing two years, His other engagements frequently took him to Wellington. Cr Russell seconded, the motion, which was put and carried on the voices. Cr Phillips moved as an amendment that Mr Krull bo reappointed. ' The Chairman said the. amendment was rather late, but he did hot desire to rule it out of order. No Councillor seconding the amendment, it lapsed. Cr Bootli thanked the meeting for his election.
