ANOTHER LAND COMPANY
Tho Auckland and Hawke's Bay Land Company (capital £loo,ooo] is being floated in England. The head- \T quarters are at Liverpool. The objects of the Company are to purchase, improve, and colonise land in New Zealand. Offers of several blocks of land have been submitted, and an agent has been despatched to the colony to report upon them. The land will be laid out in townships, and in suburban and rural sections. The sections will be partially cleared and fenced, and on those of 400 acres houses costing £l5O will he erected. On smaller sections the houses will cost about £IOO. Tho farms will be sold on the deferredpayment system. Special efforts will be'made- to encourage desirable emigrants to settle there. So far (writes the correspondent) the- subscriptions have not equalled expectation, and the directors will shortly decide whether they will proceed to allotment or return the deposits, and confess to failure.
