i WELLINGTON KACING CLUB. SUMMER MEETING second; DAY. A splendid sumraerY day favored the racing club for the second day of its Summer Meeting. The course was in very fair condition, not being nearly so soft as on the previous day'; indeed that portion near the stand could not have;been much' more thoroughly fit. Contrary to expectation/the attendance was not so large as on the previous day, about 2000 being present as compared with about 2500 the previous day. The two totalisators were very freely, patroisedj and it was at times quite impossible ;tb get near the outside one. The total amount passed through during the. day wan L 4627, the total for the two days being L 9957' The machines worked'without any hitch, The management of.Hill.and Pools gave every satisfaction, 'The booths were • freely patronised, but there appeared 'to•be very''little excessive drinking. The train arrangements were again carried out in i most unsatisfactory manner, a number of most aggravatinci-'delays,' Returning to town;lwge;,numterß(.ayailei v them-; selves of e^iessesw'other -vehicles,

although they had return railway tickets, It would be wastd ;of time to speculate upon the cause of the irregu larities. They were there, and, as they caused a great deal of annoyance on both days, the matter is one which should be inquired into by the department.
