CAIRO, February 2. Received February 4, 0.50 a.m.— News has been received hero that Baker Pasha, after landing atTrinkitafc, made a reconnaissance in force, and had a skirmish with the enemy. The latter fled southwards, and Baker's cavalry pursued the rebels for several miles, killing hundreds of them.
Colonel Gordon, the recently appointed Governor of. the Soudan, passed dhrough Korosko yesterday, and has entered tho desert en route to Khartoum. ■
LONDON, February 2. Et has transpired that Thomas and Son, sbarebrokers, who-have become defaulters for the amount of £BOO,OOO, have defrauded the London Chartered Bank of Australasia to the extent of £120,000 by the wholesale appropriation of securities belonging to the bank's customers,
