FACTS FOR AMERICAN EXPORTERS.
Australia is an English-speaking colony, doing business upon American methods and systems, ye', remarks a Boston exchange, we have only a small share of the trade of the Australian 'colonies. These colonies now import §400,000,000 annually. The United States has tat $14,000,000, or about one-thirtieth of this immense trade, notwithstanding - tin: 'acknowledged superiority of American goods over these of other .countries. American hardware generally, tools of nil kinds machinery, agricultural, implements, safes, building materials, sewing machines, stoves, furaiture, carriages, clocks, lamps and glassware, kerosiue oil, canned goods, tobacco,' limber, flooring material; drugs, denial (roods, etc., are much preferred over those of English make, though the colonial merchants have, heretofore, bought nearly all their American goods in London. If our American manufacturers showed one-half the zeal that is shown by English manufacturers, in extending their ■ trade abroad, we would hear less complaint about the size of the volume and value of the American exports. -- American Exporter,
