(to the editor). Sir,—l beg to hand you the letter of reply that I have reoeived from the Postin&Bter-General during tho put week to one that I had addressed to him suggesting the reduction of the New Zealand postage from twopence to one penny within the colony. lani&c, T. W. Shutb.

Sir.—l have tho honor to acknowledge ■• receipt of your communication of the 12th inst to the Postmaster-General advocating . the introduction of tho penny poitage for all letton within the colony. While' thanking you for your attention, I am to inform you that in the onjtaion of the Postmaster-General, tho time has not yet arrived for making the reduction in the postage.
