MASTERTON TOWN LANDS TRUST.
The ordinary monthly meeting of tho above Trust was held last evening. Present—Messrs MoCardle (in the obair), Gapper, Bish and Perry, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed,
Advertising accounts 21s and stationery Bs, were passed for payment. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £35148 2d, and that itt tho close of the current month, rents would be receivable. A letter was read from McGregor Bios, complaining that their arrangement with the Committee bad been departed from through a misunderstanding, and making another offer to surrender that portion of their leasehold which was not built upon, and to pay an additional rental on the balance. The Chairman said that the resolution passed at the previous meeting would provont them dealing with this offer at the present imo. Mr Perry thought that the former resolution was a fair one. Mr Bish considered the offer ilion made by Messrs McGregor to be a fair one, and gave notice of motion to rescind the former resolution.
A letter was read from tho Department of Justice, re an orror iu size of Courthoi S3, allotment arising out of a misconception of iho terms of the Amendment Act of 1883.
The Committee reported on the suburban seel ion occupied by Mr Chapman and recommeded the adjustment of his claim by arbitration, Tho report was adopted by the meeting, Tho Clerk reported re town acre 100, adjoining the Institute, that Mr Richards had offered £o a year and do certain fencing, On the motion of Mr Gapper this offer was accepted. The Clerk also reported that Mr Toohill was willing to rent aero 102 adjoining the Royal Hotel.
The Clerk reported that the proceeds of Town acres 42, 10G and 111 were not sufficiently large at present lo be worth handing over in tonus of the Amendment Act for a school picnic The Chairman said the only thing that could be done at present, was to keep a separate account,
The Clerk said the gross proceeds would amount to about £lO a year. About £4 were now in hand.
Mr Clapper thought it would be better to let it stand oyer till next year. _ Mr Chapman at the close of the meet" ing wailed on the Board, and after some discussion it was arranged that the compensation to h paid to him for surrendering hia interest in the forty acre section and the improvements thereon should be assessed at £2OO,
