EDUCATION BOARD.
At a meeting of (he. Education Board to-day, the resignation of Miss Baillie, of the Mastorton sohool was accepted; Board could not appoint an additional teacher to the Feathers ton school, the staff now being in excess of the scale.
Tho Board did not accede to the application for additional house allow* ance to Mr Grundy, of Mastorton, as *, he was at present being exceptionally : treated.
Mrs Palmer, of the Carterton school, ! and Mr Ward, of the Tenui school, applied for removal, The Board decided they must apply when suitable .vacancies occur. ' ■ !
A bonus of £2O was voted" to Mr Kay, of the Masterton school, and the salaiy of Miss Robins was increased to £BO.
An application for a bonus from < Miss Jones, of Carterton, was referred . •' to the committee for a report, ' Mv McCardle's offer of two acres for » school site at Pahiatua was accepted with thanks., The offer of a school site from Mr Stevens, at Belvedere, was referred to ».•' Messrs Bunny and Buchanan for a re- . port. , _ | Mr Buchanan, in conjunction with f the School Committee, was empowered i ; to make suitablo arrangements for a teacher's residence at Gladstone. \ The Board , could not deal further I with the application for additional ac- ' «a commodation at the Masterton School, and Residence at Waihakeke until tho amount of the building &rant for tho | current ; year was available. \ Repairs to tho school buildings at Greytown, as recommit by. the . architect, was authorised.
It was agreed that £4 per head bo paid for children attending school at Bidoford, provided the school was con- .inducted in' accordance with the Education Act. : The tendora of T. James for the Kai- •- tara additions, and of A. Cleghorn for •' the Tinui school were accepted. The Chmtoias vacation was extended '' ' until the Monday after Anniversary Day.
