THE DELEGATE MEETING.

To the Editor, j Sir,—l have carefully rneasurod tho proceedings at the meeting of delegates held here on Saturday hat, and with your permission will give your readers the conclusions arrived at. Six delogatos wero present besides the President, Mr Hawkins. The report of the proceedings occupied %\ inches of tho Daily space on Monday, and out of this Mr Hawkins absorbed 58J inches leaving 18 inches for the other six delegates, and Secretary and the business, Not bad work that, and worth travelling _ from Bowlands for! Still even that is eclipsed by what took place at former meeting. But Ido not wish to tire your readers with arithmetical problems, so leave that for the present. The safeguard of New Zealand, the onlypreventiveof the colony, sharing the fate of North Wairarapa and becoming the background of a picture flhoso centre piece is Hawkins, lies in tho fact that everything is to be attempted and nothing done. Each meeting reveala the truth of this, and if the delegates, the North Wairarapa, and the Press can be kept amußed, and all parties pleasently thrown off the scent by a feigned attack upon the member for Wairarapa' South, well, the next general election will also show the truth of it.

Yours &c., Observer.
