KURIPUNI NURSERY.

W> yeatorday had the pleasure of a walk over Mr _E, Collotte's nursery gardens at Kuripuni, These are very favorably situated on the banks of the Kuripuni stream, and are 'an example of what may be done by system and industry with a good piece of soil, Within a limited area are to he found a most extensive and ohoice variety of nursery stock, from the modest pansis to the most magnifloent flowering plant, and fruit trees of all kinds. Four hundrod varieties of roses are to be seen looking hoalthy and beautiful, and in tho greenhouse is a display of rare foliage and flowering ! planja which would send an ardent floriculturist into raptureß, Many of the plants are Mr Collotte's own working from seodlings, and in many cases after considerable patient experiments lie has succeeded in establishing distinct varieties, Amongst the fruit trees it was remarkable to notice slender apple trees already loaded with fruit, This we found was not so wonderful as at first appeared ai all Mr Collotte's apples are double worked—that is a blight proof apple is first grafted on a blight proof stook, and when that is established it is again grafted with whatever variety is desired, Thus the second graft really is a four-year-old tree and doubly blight proof, The plum trees are also very forward and prolific, and the peaches look healthy and strong. The whole nursery shows the presence of °are, i industry, and system, and will be certain to bring Mr Collotte the reward whioh always attends snob qualities,'
