The Eleminqton Stakes, 5 furlongs i Sioocco ... 2 David 3 Eighteen horses came to the post. King of the Gipsies won, after & good race, by half a length. Time, lmin Bseo. The Y.R.O. Handicap, 1J mile. Dukedom l Sardonyx t 2 •Anglesey ~3 Eighteen horses started, and a good race resulted, Dukedom winning by half a length. Time, 3mim 17|sec, Thf, Steepleohaee, About 3 miles. Rory O'More ... : 1 Songster... ... ■g 1 Chrysalis;.., 3 . ThIB:WM ft splendid race, and hotly .contested. Rory O'More wo* by two lengths. Time, 7min 12sec, The Canterbury Plate, 2 miles. Off Colour . 1 Commotion ... 2 Lb Grand llt 5 , Jfour horses only started. There was a splendid race, with a good finish, Off Colour winning by only a neck. Time, 3min 48|sec, Martini-Henry was scratched for this event, The Free Handicap, 1 mile and a furlong. Linda j Suaveller .2Josephine ... 3 Fourteen horses started. , Linda won by five lengths. Time 2min ssec, ' MELBOURNE, November 12, Received November 16, 0,55 a,m.— A serious railway accident occurred on the Essendon line at noon to-day. The train, which ,was conveying visitors to the races, had passed the North Melbourne station when the axle of one of the second class carriages broke, oausing the carriage to upset. Three passengers who were severely injured were conveyed to the hospital, and one of them now lies in a serious condition. Several other passengers suffered injuries of a less serious character. Later, The three personß who were taken to the hospital were the only passengers who were injured by the railway accident on the Essendon line, Tho remainder escaped with a severe shaking. BRISANE, , _ ' November 12;The Hon, S. W.
