Ringwood won by five lengths a head only separating tho seoond and third horses, Time, srain 40seo. The Kensington Stakes, 5 furlongs. The Broker 1 Falkirk ... 2 Antoinette ... ... ... 3 Eight started, Broker .won by two lengths, a length between seoond and third, Timo, lmin B£sec, The Railway Stakeb, 1 mile. The Melboorne Cop ; 2 miles. .: Martinl-Honry 1 First Water ... ... ... 2 Commotion • 3 The following twenty-nine started Aipe-de-Camp, Anglesey, Archie, Bisbis, Calms, plaptrap, Commotion, Cunnamulla; Despot, Dirk Hatterlck, Dukedom, First' Demon, First Wator, Kathleen Mavoumeen, Kiugsdalo, Kohinoor, Le Grand, Losbia. Linda, Magnet, Martini, Nicholas, Pollisj Recovery, Santa Glaus, Sardine, Sto'ckwell, Sweet William, and The Gem. A good start was effected, Claptrap, Dirk Hatteraick, and Le Grand being the first to get away, Crossing the tan, Dirk Hatteraick was in front, Martini-Henry, Archie, and Claptrap, following, and Despot, Ounnamnlla, First Domon, Commotion, Dukedom, and Aide-cle-Oamp holding central positions. Passing the grand stand Claptrap again took tho lead, with Arohie and Martini-Henry close behind. Lesbla, Stookwell, Despot, Aide-de-Camp and Nicholas following,and Dirk Hatteraick lask Rounding tho turn, Olaptrap was still In front and Archie next, .Linda then shot to tho front and led along the river Bide; then same Archie, Claptrap, and Martini-Henry, with Aide-de-Oamp, Lesbia, and Dukedom well up, and Dirk Hatteraick still last. At the bridge Arohie and Claptrap again went forward, closoly followed by Linda, Martini-Henry, Despot, and Dukedom, well up, with Santa Claus and Stockwell in the centre of the field, At the baok of the course Archie and Santa Claus who had taken seoond place were leading, with Dukedom third and Aide de-Camp and Kohinoor last, Entering the straight Martini-Henry took the lead, and Claptrap followed next, the rest of tho field in straggling order, First Water coming through them with a rush, and taking an improved position, Martini going well, drew away from the rest, and increasing his lead romped homo an easy winner. First Wator coming up fast at the finish landed two lengths away. Yan Yean Stakes, 1 mile. Olga 1 Ohloria ... 2 Iron Hand ... ~. ~, 3 Eighteen horses started. Olga won easily in lmln 43| sees. C.J.C. (Allen) 2 Watersprite colt (Thompson) 8 The New Zealand Oop Handicap,— Sweepstake of 20 sovs eaoh, with 1000 sovs added; second horse to receivo 100 sovs; third horso 50 sovs from tho stakes; 2 miles. Tasman.,. ... (Derrelt) 1 Nonsense ... (Wattie) 2 Tim Whiffler ... (Lang 3 Ohoviol (Rudings), Lady Emma (Allan,) Mischief (Webster), Turquoise (Clifford), Envious (J. Smith), The Jilt (Hickton), Adamant (W. Sharp), Hippodamia (W, Butler), and Tho Poet (W. Brown), also ran. There was considerable excitement over this race on account of the Hon. W. Robinson having declared to win with Nonsense, which it was known he had backed freely at 100 to 35 and 100 to 30 for a large amount. At tho start considerable delay was caused by the uneasiness of somo of tho horses particularly Nonsenso, Nonsense aiid Tasman at once shot to the front, while Tim Whiffler had all the worst of it. Tasman took the lead round the bend, with The Poet and Nonsense on his quarters, Envious and Hippodamia close up, When nearlng the stand, the last named took the lead, Tasman second, and The Poet third; the rest wero in a duster except Lady Emma, who was last, Rounding the bend Nonsense etill led ; Cheviot overhauled Tasman, and Hippo took fourth place. They passed Cutts' in this order, and here Envipus held out signals of distress. At tho back of the course Nonsense had a a lead of about a length, while Hippo was gaining on Tasman and Cheviot, the last named falling baok into tho ruck, At Ford's, Taßman again went into second place..and Cheviot lell still further to the roar. Turning into the straight Nonsenso led, Tasman fast closing up, Hippodamia < lying third. The whip was 'now taken out to Adamant and' Tasman, while Tim Whiffler took.third position, As they neared the stand, Tasman gained still more on Nonsense, and a tremendous race ensued for first honors, terminating In favor of Mr D. O'Brien's horse by a neok, Tim Whiffler a good third, Hippodamia fourth, fifth, Lady Emma sixth, the others' tailing off. The dose finish caused intense , excitement,, and the victory is very popular. Derritt was loudly cheered as ho. returned to .the paddook, . Time 3min 3G*seo'.
