The district may fairly be congratulated upon yesterday's show being, as a whole, & creditable exhibition. Still there were symptoms of weaknesss vrhieh must bo somewhat discouraging to the managing committee, The aggregate entries showed a decrease instead of an increase, tho judging was not in some classes completed with the pron)ptitnde and method that has been cofiroiended on previous occasions, and ths horticultural exhibits were extremely unsatisfacaory, The Society to hold its own should launch out next year by offering double or treble the money given this in prizes, and making the prize schedule a little more popular by a general recast. For example fifty sections in sheep and a similar number in cattle might be reduced to twenty five without injury to the show We believo that with fewer subdivisions awards would be larger, competition keener, and judging more satisfactory, while exhibitors would be saved a considerable expense by having only to forward to the Show their best Lincolns or Shorthorns as the case might be, without having as they do now send good, better, and besfc
