CHARITY AND ITS REWARD.
Some months ago Queen Margherita of Italy asked a little girl to knit tor a pair of silk stockings as a birthday gift, and gave her 20 lire to buy the material. The Queen forgot the circumstances till her birthday came, when she was reminded of it by the arrival of a pair of well-knit stockings with the makers best wishes. Not to be outdone Queen Margherita sent a pair to her young friend as.a return gift, one.stocking being full of lirapieces, the other'of bonbons, They, •were accompanied by a little note:' "Tell ! me, my dear, which you like best!' 1 A-reply reached the palace next day: " Dearest .queen,—Both the stockings have made /.nib shed many bitter tears. Papa took the one with the money, animy brother the other."
Poverty and sufperinq .- " 1 was dragged down with debt, poverty,, and suffering for years, caused by a sick' family and large bills for doctoring, winch did them no good. I was completely discouraged, until one year afo, by the advice of my pastor, I. pro? cured Hop Bitters and commenced their use, and in one month wo were all well, and none of us have seen a sick day since; and I want to say to all poor men, you can keep your families well a year with Hop Bitters for less than one doctor's visit will cost. .Iknowit."~AWORBISSjIAH, Read
