The latest authentic information fully confirms the reports that have been current of a split in the Cabinet. There is now no doubt but that a rupture in the Ministry has occurred, and is now understood that Ministers only await the meeting of tho Chambers which takes place on the 23rd instant to announce the fact,. It is stated that Ministers consider that they have been treated with discourtesy and indignity by 'M. Grevy, and complain of the President's interference with the official actions of his-son-in-law, M. Wilson.
M. Antoine, the Deputy for the city of Metz, has been arrested at the order of the. Government, on a charge of treason.
MADRID, October 2, . King Alfonso returned to this city to-day, and was welcomed with great enthusiasm by the populace. Telegrams are to hand from Hayti, West Indies, stating that a serious native rising occurred at Port Auprince, the capital. A large body of blacks entered the town and attacked the foreign merchants, several of whom were killed and others severely maltreated. The rioters also pillaged the business premises and private houses of merchants and committed great havoo. A body of Marines from men-of-war in port were landed and quelled the outbreak, and in an encounter which took place with the rioters several Marines were killed. > '-.!■.* Paris, ( ; :■ | : : . j'::■■!
