GREYTOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The usual meeting of the Council was held on Monday evening. Present—His Worship the Mayor, and Crs Kimberley, Bright, Udy, Varnham, and Gallagher, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence outwards was rend from the letter book. Correspondence inwards.—From the Secretary of the Hospital Committee, asking for refund of rates as a subscription to the Hospital. Prom Mr G. Wyett, asking that about half a chain of footway at the north end be completed, From, ;! Mr Brooks, asking that six chains ot Fisher's line -he metalled. It was resolved on the motion of Cr Varnham, seconded by Cr Kimberley, that the request of the Hospital Committee be granted. It was also resolved, on the motion of His Worship the Mayor, seconded by Cr-Kimberley, that tho request of Mr Wyett be acceded to, Cr Varnham moved that the metalling of Fisher's line be held over until the autumn. There being no seconder, the motion lapsed. Cr Udy moved and Cr Bright secanded that the request of Mr Brooks be acceded to. His Worship the Mayor moved and Cr Varnham seconded, an amendment that the matter be referred to the Works Committee. ' . The amendment was declared carried. The Treasurer's report was read and adopted. Messrs St George, G. Jonos, and J. Beard made the usual declaration and took their seats. Crs Bright, Udy, and St George were appointed members of the Finance and Works Committees. It was resolved that the clerk furnish the Council with a statement showing the amount of money spent on each road in the Borough, and also the total amount of rates collected from properties adjoining the same since Greytown was a borough, The clerk was instructed to inform the overseer to see to raking in the metal in West street. Cr Gallagher gavo notice that he would move at next meeting—That the ranger's duties extend throughout the Borough. The meeting then adjourned,
