Reuter's Telegrams, by eleotrio telegraph—copyright MELBOURNE, October 1. Received October 2, 1.25 a,ni.— An alarming tragedy occurred ut the Bank of Victoria this afternoon. Harry Thomas, a customer of the branch bank at Heathcote, where he carries on business as an auctioneer, entered the city office, and mounted a table in the centre of the Chamber, shouting, " Revenge." Then drawing a revolver he attempted to commit suicide. He fired first at the ceiling and thou at his head, inflicting a serious wound, which, however, is not likely to prove fatal.

A meeting was held to-day at Castleraaiue, when resolutions in favor of the Pacific annexation scheme were enthusiastically passed.
