INSTALLATION.

The installation of Mr A, Bisk as Mayor of Masterton lor the ensuing yoar took place at noon to-day. Councillors Perry. Clapper, Feist, Prico, Eeron, McOardle, aud Chamberlain were in attendance. The 'Mayor iolect having made the statutory declaration, Bjid he had considerable pleasure in taking his seat for a second term. He had boen induced to come forward for another year inconsequence of an.expression of opinion from nearly every ;member of the Council .backod by a general desire oxpresffld by very many of the ratepayers. But for this he had not contemplated re-election. Ho trusted that he woul I meet with the same courto3y from the Conic'l that he had received dur- ■ ing the past year. He might fairly say thai he had endeavored to give satisfaction to the Oounciland the outsido public As far '"as he had been able he had fiilfilleievery duty which had devolved upon him, The Council had worked harmoniously with him in the past year and he trusted that it would do so in the coming one. He thanked both the ratepayers, and the Council for hia re-elec-" tion, and would feel it his' duty' to aofcdiiring :the coming twelve months as he had done :in the past (applause). -', ■■ • ';'; ■•" '■';'.' r [:' Mr Feist congratulated Mr Bish upon ocoupyirtg the chair for a second term; He believed that he had discharged his mayoral duties in a most Batiafactory manner, as welt. as those .which he had undertaken in his l 1 capacity as chief magistrate of the town. Now that Mr Bish had become a "whole" man" he expected him to be still more efficient with the assistance of his valued partner (applause). Mr Bish was.the: first: gentleman who had had' the courage to aoI cept the duties of the mayoral office for a second year. He admired his courage, becauao these duties were by no means light; and he might specially refer to the claims made upon his time by court duties as Mr Bish had given entire satisfaction in this respect by being neither too lenient nor too' strict';(applause), . .. ,; ' Cr McCardle, as the oldest member of the Council desired.to say.a word;;''' He-con-! sidered Mr Bish' had filled the office during the past year with honor both to .himself and to the Council. He approvedL' of a mayor being a married man and. expressed ' regret that the mayoress was not,' present to witness ihe installation,"" Mr Bish". wpuW have reason to look baok in future years with pleasure;to the period when .he was Mayor of Masterton-(applause), j \ ■';< ■' ?
