WOODVILLE.
(From our own cor'responlent.)
Advance Woodville! seems still the cry, and I am afraid they will overdo it, the game as many other placet similarly situated. There is some talk of anothor blacksmith, making three; another thue maker, No 4; two more hotel*, and last, though not least, the Bank of New Zealand hat opened temporary promises, and I hear has'purohased a corner section •for £6OO, making land worth £2400 per acre if wo could all find banks to purchase, I expect shortly to bo able to report that tenders will be out for the erection of Bamo, • ;
Mr McKenzie la having plans prbptred of his new hotol by Mr Larcouit, of Palm'erßton,and tenders will shortly bo called for same. Mr Carlson has commenced operations on his section towards his hotol, and Ims let his contract to Mr Rountreo, of Mastertou. The building trade promises to be very brisk during the coming summer. Engineers and surveyors one would imagine very plentiful by. seeing so many here lately; first tho Chief Surveyor, of Hawke's Bay oops in, and next Mr D. Rosa, Chief Engineer, and tbeu the Engi-ueer-in-Chief himself shows up, so amount all (his crush of talent lot us hope they will construct a bridge, over the Mau&watu river that will both serve as railway and traffic bridge worthy of the designers. We have alio anothor high Government official on a viiit—the Commissioner of Crn-Aii Lands; —who is making some enquiries abut ihe ferry reserye that has beeu squatted upon for the List aevon yean, and I hear the party is highly indignant because the Government won't let him stop another seven years-rent free- _.a
