A GLIMPSE OF FRENCH LIFE.

The Police Court at Yvetot (Franco) had before them a woman charged ' with poisoning her child, and the case brought to light S'jme strange evidence. The woman was only recently married, but for a period of seven years had been living as mistress to a man named Caubec. Only a few weeks ago Caubec seemed to regret that he had deserted his mistress, and he proposed to her that if she would leave Yvetot with him they could go elsewhere and live happily together. She would not agree to this, and he threatened to inform the authorities how she had poisoned her youngest child and negleoted the other chilli en. As Bhe still refused to in his proposals, he tarried his threat into execution, She, however,; proved that she had done bo at hia instigation, and that he had helped her. The consequence was that Caubeo waß also arrested, The judge styled the case as one of " mixed marriage,"
