TWO COWS IN ONE SKIN.
Mr Allander, the manager of the Ayles* bury Dairy Company (whose working plant has been exhibited at all the principal agricultural shows in the thras kingdoms), has been delivering a aeries of lectures 011 the improvement of dairy coot. According to Mr Allander—and bis statement is borne out by many practical men—the improvement has been carried to such an extent as virtually to'' put two cows into one skin. This is to be accomplished by "selection," and the principal means to that end is the use of a slate and pencil. On the left margin of the slate the names of every cow is to be written. A spring balance is to be hung in a convenient place to hang the pail on, and (he correct weight of each coifs raillc recorded opposite her name on the right hand side of the slate. The slate js to be posted up into a book kept 'for the pur* pone weekly. By this means it is exaotly known which are good cows and which are worthless.
