Inapeotor of Nuisances v J. Lloyd.— Breach of Borough by-laws by negligent driving. Mr Beard for defandant, The evidence shewed that defendant asked the driver of the Empire 'bus to allow him to pass with the Club 'bus, but the driver kept the middle of the road and Lloyd drove past, one horse cantering and tho other trotting. • Mr Oorbett one of the witnesses for plaintiff refused to attend, and a warrant was issued to oompel • His evidence shewed that Lloyd drove very close behind.his 'bus, and if it had been stopped, the poles if the bus would have gone through the front one. His Worship dismissed the case as there was not sufficient evidence to convict. His Worship pointed out t!.e responsibilities of the drivers, as they not only had their masters' property to look after, but their living Heights. He also pointed out to the driver of the Empire bus 1 that he must give way when challenged. Mr Beard asked that expenses be allowed, and His Worship allowed 10s for his personal expenses. _ Same v Harrod,—Leaving horses and timber waggon without attendant. No appearance of defendant, fined 20s and costs 7a. '

Same v J. Elley.—Driving round a corner faster than a walk. Defendant stated it would tako him all day to go his round if he had to stop at each corner. His Worship pointed out that he must do so according to the by-laws, which were the same as in Wellington and other large to™, , Fined 5s and costs 7s. Same v Thomas Porter.-Same offence, Fined Is and 7s costs.

T. Girdwood vEliasPetersen.-Asaault, Mr Dreyer acted as interpreter for defendant, Defendant pleaded guilty and was fined 40a and 20s costs, in default 21 days imprisonment with hard labor. Defendant asked that he might be permitted to pay the Bno within a week, which was allowed.

Inspector of Nuisances v P. Hare and E. Dixon.—Breach of Borough by-law 103. Mr Bunny appeared for Mr Dixon and Mr Skipper .for Mr Hare, From the evider.ce it appeared that the defendants were wrestling on the morning after the recent fire in Musterton. His Worship pointed out that though the affair was not a serious one, there had evidently been a breach of the bye law, and fined defendants 5s each,
