Melbourne, May 30.

In tho Legislative Assembly r this evening, Sir Bryan O'Loghlen, as Colonial Secretary, introduced his Financial Statement, He estimates the revenue for tho present financial year at L 5,520,000, and Ibe expenditure at L 5,570,000. For the year 1881-82, the revenue was L 5,560,500, and the expenditure waß L 5,370,000. The statement proposes a reduction of the duties on beer and tea, and also a reduction of the present postage rates.

THE AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS IN ENGLAND. THE CAMBRIDGE MATCH. London, May 29. A cricket match was commenced to-day at Cambndgo. between the Australians and eleven of the Cambridge University. The weather was very hot. A capital wicket was pitched, and the ground was in Rood order. There was a very large attendance, and the }»roatest interest was taken in tho match. The Australians went in first, and were all disposed of for 139. The highest scores • were Massie, with 37 (canahl); and A. Bannerman, 50 (bowled). The bowling of tho Cambridge men was dead on the wicket, and .their ! fielding was excellent. The. University bleven then went in. for their first innings, j and when tho stumps were drawn-fur ihe day had put together 18f for tho loss of only four wickets. Mr G. B. Studd scored 42, and Mr C. T.- Studd-is not out for 85, The Australians met with a cordial reception on going into tho field.- They will be entertained at dinner to-morrow byDr Porter, tho Vice-Ohancellor of the University.
