.Mr.J.Yile of Masterlbu has now on view -at his promises in Queen-street an American notion" new to this district which should be an attraction to all who are engaged in dairying operations. The phenomenon in question is known as "Tho Lilly Patent Butter Worker," and ut a marvel of design, strength, and aimplicity. The object of is to relieve butter makers trom the necessity of working it with their hands, a process whioh'as it is well known destroys the toxturp and quality ot the product. The butter worker consists simply of a butter tub placed on a spare frame and a revolving wooden ladle. From twenty to thirty pounds of butter are emptied into this tub, and then the one handle of the machine is turned causing both the tub and ladle to revolve simultaneously. The butter is pressed bv ihi3 ladle against the concave floor of the tub, the butter-milk escaping through a smal pipe, and after a few turns of the handle, every particle of milk haa been separated from every particle of butter. The cool firm pressure of the solid woodenladle blends up the butter into one homogeneousiMss, a feature in the maohine which will be appreciated by unfortunate storekeepers, who have to put together half a dozen- different -makes, The imchitte is remarkable for its simplicity, a child can work it and take it to pieces. When its merits are known in this district it iB pretty certain to bo tho first popular fixture in allow local dairies,

In directing our readers' notice to B. A. (xahdener & Son's now advertisement on our front page, we wish them to notice the extraordinary way a business can bo made to eo ahead, when properly managed. Two years ago this firm started their business in Urterton, neither koowing or being known by anyone. Their destiny was forshadowed •by not a few (especially storekeepers, two of whom have since resigned). There being no fewer that eleven Stores in Carterton at thattimo their.chances of success were not any too good, nevertheless we have to record thtit this firm have imported direct torn Home during that short period goods oi the amount of £'is,ooo, and all paid for. Where is it all gone, we ask ? The annver is simply-Sold! This firm has never been afraid to trade in their own name, hence their success,—[Advt.]
